Sources close to the player and SuperSport United have indicated that the technical team believes his form and fitness in his first season will be crucial to him staying longer at the club.
The insiders stated that SSU want to monitor him throughout the season before making a final decision on a potential extended stay at Matsatsantsa a Pitori.
“For now, they have given him a one-year contract because he is from a period where he hasn’t played so much due to injury and other reasons as well. But after seeing him in training they saw that they could give him a chance and that’s why he has initially signed this one-year deal,” said the Siya source.
“Now the club had informed the player and his representatives that they would want to keep him further beyond the one-year deal but that will depend on what they see throughout this current season. It’s believed that they will look at his fitness during the season and his form and contribution through the season. So that is what will determine his future, but for now the one-year is a guarantee,” the source added.
A second Siya source stated that the player himself, Nasir is just happy he can play football again.
“The player is happy. You can even see during training that he has been missing to play. You know he was an Ethiopian national team player and not playing for Sundowns was depriving him of the chance to represent his country but now he can revive that chance again if he plays well for SuperSport United. But the most important thing is that he is happy,” the second source told Soccer Laduma.

The Siya crew contacted United CEO Stan Matthews, who confirmed that they have to monitor Nasir’s fitness first.
“Well, he has had loads of injuries so we need to see how he progresses but when he is fit and in form he is top class so we are hopeful he will show us what he can do,” Matthews told Soccer Laduma.
Nasir’s future at SuperSport will depend on his form and fitness throughout the season. The club is willing to extend his stay if he proves himself, and the player is eager to make the most of this opportunity.
