The Buccaneers were involved in CAF Champions League action over the weekend, as they claimed a 2-0 victory over Stade d’Abidjan on Saturday evening.
In the league, Jose Riveiro’s charges have won their last two matches, including an 8-1 drubbing of Marumo Gallants and a 1-0 win over Magesi to end 2024.
Pirates currently sit three points behind Mamelodi Sundowns, who have played a game more, but they can move top with a win this evening.

At the other end, City come into the game in high spirits after Pirates’ Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs 1-0 on Sunday evening.
It was also a winning start for coach Muhsin Ertugral, who will come up against his former side this evening.
The two sides already met previously this season, with Pirates claiming a 3-1 win on aggregate over City in the semi-finals of the MTN8.
