Myers gets hat trick in Morgan soccer shutout

Boys Soccer
Sheridan 6, New Lexington 3: Jim Swain, Kasen Miller and Rigden Hoosic kicked two goals for the Generals in a Muskingum Valley League crossover win.
Brady Bevis had 12 saves at goal. Swain also became the Generals’ all-time leading goal scorer.
Morgan 5, Lakewood 0: Tavian Myers scored three times in the second half as the Raiders rolled to a nonleague win on their home field.
Brylee Shannon scored in the first half and assisted on two in the second for Morgan, which led 1-0 at the half. Braylon Miller also connected in the second half for Morgan, which had 18 shots on goal.
Lakewood managed only five shots on goal after halftime after getting 10 in the first.
Tri-Valley 2, Pataskala Licking Heights 1: Yuvi Bastola and Sam Schott scored goals for the Scotties (10-4-1), who connected in each half to secure a nonleague win at Kenny Wolford Park.
Bastola assisted on Schott’s goal, while Devin Watts assisted on Schott’s. Owen Harney collected 12 saves in goal to secure the win.
Zanesville 2, Cambridge 1: Connor Baldwin kicked the go-ahead goal and Reece Neal also scored for the visiting Blue Devils (6-7-2) in a nonleague win at McFarland Stadium.
Greyson Goines had three saves for Zanesville. Cash Omen added an assist.
Girls Soccer
John Glenn 2, Logan 0: The Muskies managed only one shot on goal in a defensive struggle with the visiting Chieftains (9-7-1) in a nonleague match.
Mollie Landis broke a scoreless tie with a goal with 2:44 left in the first half; Ella Hinton added the insurance goal in the 39th minute of the second.
Faith Lemon had eight saves against 10 shots for John Glenn (10-4), which hosts Athens at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
Sheridan 0, Fairfield Union 0: The Generals and Falcons played to a scoreless tie in a nonleague match in Rushville.
Sheridan is now 10-2-3 overall and visits Philo on Thursday.
Magnolia Sandy Valley 1, Coshocton 0: The Cardinals scored off a corner kick in the second half and held on for a close nonleague win at Stewart Field.
The Redskins recognized seniors Alyssia Gordon, Aerianna Braxson, Anna Jansen, Cammy Wilson and Isabelle Lauvray at the game. Courtney Snyder recorded one save as Sandy held a 9-2 edge in shots.
River View 4, Ellis School (Pa.) 3, OT: Paisley Miller scored the game-winning goal in overtime as the Lady Bears came back from a 3-1 halftime deficit in Pittsburgh.
Alyssa Fox connected three times in regulation, including twice in the second half. Kylie Miller assisted on two of them; Madison Graham had the other.
Volleyball
Coshocton 10, 25, 25, 25, Tuscarawas Cent. Cath. 25, 23, 22, 23: Lacey Guthrie put up a stellar all-around showing with three aces, 10 kills, 12 assists and three blocks, as the Lady Skins shook off a slow start to record a four-set nonleague win against the host Saints (8-9).
Kenedi Jackson added seven kills with 14 digs, Leah Mathias seven kills and Saige Abbott 12 digs for Coshocton (9-11).
River View 25, 25, 25, John Glenn 17, 20, 24: Haley Balo spearheaded a convincing win with 18 kills as the host Lady Bears improved to 12-7 overall and 10-4 in the Muskingum Valley League-Big School Division.
Kelsie Smith set up 33 assists and Bailey Laudick and Layla Olinger teamed for 11 kills for the winners; Olinger also had 11 digs. Brittany Henderson chipped in 15 digs.
Emma Briggs totaled 12 kills and 12 digs and Lauren Blair had 22 assists for John Glenn (9-10, 6-8 MVL-Big). Briggs also had a team-high 12 digs and Aleea Musselman added eight kills with 11 digs.
Cross Country
Morris shines for Philo: Ryan Morris ran to an 11th place finish among 76 runners for Philo at the Indian Valley Invitational.
Cody Serrell was 56th (21:47.1) and Hunter Hlad 67th (23:08.8) for Philo.
Jacon Agin was 14th (18:02.4) and Logan Elson 69th (23:25.2) for West Muskingum; Kameron Dunn was 42nd (20:22.4) and Joe Ewart 54th (21:33.8) for Zanesville.
New Philadelphia won with 23 points, followed by Indian Valley (68), Garaway (74), Claymont (76) and Meadowbrook (135). The Quakers’ Marcus Adelman won in 16:04.2.
