The Florida State women’s soccer team is one game away from entering the NCAA tournament undefeated.
No. 1 FSU faces No. 7 Clemson today in Cary, North Carolina, in the ACC tournament final. Brian Pensky’s Seminoles are playing for their ninth ACC tournament championship in 11 years, while Eddie Radwanski’s Tigers are seeking their first conference tourney title.
FSU (15-0-1) got to the championship match by beating No. 11 Pitt 2-0 on Thursday. Freshman Jordynn Dudley returned from injury and scored her 10th goal on the season, putting her behind only teammate Onyi Echegini (11) for the ACC lead. Five minutes later, Beata Olsson added another goal on a Taylor Huff assist. Goalkeeper Cristina Roque made three saves to record her ninth blank slate of the season.
Clemson (15-2-3) beat Wake Forest 1-0 in the quarterfinals before getting past No. 9 Notre Dame 3-2 in Thursday’s first semifinal. Megan Bornkamp opened the scoring with a 24th-minute goal, while a second-half goal by Tatum Short and a penalty kick by Caroline Conti kept the Irish at bay. Tigers goalie is tied for the NCAA lead with 13 shutouts.
