Zamalek interim boss Ayman El-Ramady has reportedly remained tight-lipped on his future amid reports linking former Bafana boss Pitso Mosimane with the head coach role.

El-Ramady led the White Castle to a stunning 8-7 win on penalties in the Egyptian Cup final win against rivals Pyramids FC as the club won the title for the 29th time in its history.

It was a strong end to the season for the White Knight who finished 3rd in the Egyptian Premier League and were unable to defend their CAF Confederation Cup crown after losing in the quarter-finals to Stellenbosch FC.

After the game, El-Ramady reportedly refused to discuss his future despite the victory and said a decision would be made in Zamalek’s best interests, according to FilGoal

“It’s too early to talk about my future,” El-Ramady said. “We’ll look at what’s best for Zamalek – even if that means I’m not part of the plan. The board will assess the situation.”

The 60-year-old said that if he were appointed a permanent coach, it would be a positive for the club but he remained open to all outcomes.

“I believe that if I stay, things will go very well. But if I don’t, I’ll hand over a full technical report to the club,” he said.

El-Ramady took over as interim coach on 7 May, replacing Jose Peseiro, but the club continues to be linked with South African coach Pitso Mosimane.
